Sad to See It Go
Well Thursday was my last day at Serendipity. They were so nice and brought in bagels and gave me a card they had all signed.
I finished up all of my articles and extra assignments but I told Matt that if there was any further editing he'd like me to do I'd be more than willing. I really didn't want to leave. I loved this internship; it was a fantastic experience!
Looking back I've definitely learned a lot about my workplace habits and how to manipulate some of them to be as productive as possible. Diving into a project headfirst with no hesitation seems to be my best bet for getting things accomplished. Also, I need mini-breaks from time to time. And in doing so I can get a lot done.
I'm incredibly thankful for having had this opportunity because now I know that this is definitely something I could (and would LOVE to) make a career out of. The publishing industry could be my home and I would enjoy it a great deal. Obviously there will always be tasks that are mundane, tedious or just downright mind-numbing but that's going to be the case with any job, I think.
From this internship I'm taking away more confidence in my abilities, a better understanding of the kind of work I hope to be doing one day, and of course experience. I couldn't have asked for a better internship! I was freaking out that I wasn't even going to find one and that if I did I was going to be too nervous to do a good job but my fears ended up being silly.
I sent out a thank-you card to everyone at Serendipity because I want them to know how truly grateful I am and that they made my time there very enjoyable. I didn't get to talk to everyone a ton and I certainly would have liked to get to know them better but unfortunately when I'm a bit intimidated it takes me longer to open up to people. I was so worried about getting work done that I mostly sat at my computer and kept to myself. But the times I did get to talk to people they were always so helpful and friendly, so I wanted them to know I appreciated them.
Thumbs up to a great internship and cross your fingers for me in my future endeavors!
